Update on Ms. Delich.

Harry’s Place carries a rather amusing piece on Ms. Delich’s strange reading habits.

I’m not 100% sure who Dr Gideon Polya is, but the feverish, almost maniacal tone, of the article is enough to send a chill down your spine and I found one paragraph particularly inextricable amongst the intellectual verbiage:

“America has been bankrupted by its support for Zionism and Islamophobic, Zionist-promoted Asian wars – it can no longer afford the continuing destruction of its wealth and reputation and perversion of its libertarian, humanitarian and democratic culture by the lying, racist, traitorous Zionist lobby in its midst. [My emphasis.]

I can only wonder what else Ms. Delich’s browser history and cookies would reveal?

Update: I took the time to skim read Dr. Polya’s political writing and they are weird in the extreme, like someone is shouting at the writing paper in a mix of shorthand and political jargon. Dr. Polya seems to blame the US-Israeli for 9/11 and the bombing in Mumbai. Well, in fact, there are few things that Dr. Polya doesn’t blame on the US and Israel.

Oh, Fuck. I came across him constantly on Newsvine. He’s an obnoxious fuck. From the bit you quote, he might have descended into an even more obnoxious fuckiness.

I skimmed his sites and posted the links at HP, they are not pretty, it reads like a Maoist on speed.

Ms Delich may have made an innocent error, but her attitudes are plain. Here is an excerpt from a blog that refers to a “witch-hunt” against her. The poster is Tony Greenstein, who states:

“As Ms Delich wrote in an e-mail to me:

‘I had no idea who David Duke was (being an Eastern European I didn’t study US history or culture, mention their far-right let alone the likes of David Duke).
Joe Quinn, in his new article also published my apology (in a blue box, bottom of the article) which is clearly my statement on acknowledging the error, explaining and apologising. It was my first apology but I also made several individual ones that were addressed to the Zionist members of the Forum who tried to attack me on the list (not for the first time though) but with the copies received by all the participating members of the Forum.’”

    Two questions here:

    1. Why is this political “innocent” writing to Tony Greenstein, well-known anti-Zionist? How would she know who he was?

    2. What I really object to the reference to her individual apologies “that were addressed to the Zionist members of the Forum who tried to attack me on the list”. This demonstrates a clear mentality – if you attack someone for linking to far-Right sites, this can only be because you are a “Zionist” (and could there be anything worse – Keith Hammond seems not to think so!). Talk about compounding a felony….

For the record, I am neither a Zionist or an anti-Zionist (and not Jewish). I certainly recognise that there are many forces in the Middle East that would wipe out Israel and drive out its population, and I can’t stand idly by and condone suipport for those forces.

To people like Ms Delich, the only people who would take offence are “Zionists” – a hated group of people. And, I’m so sorry, but I just don’t buy her line about innocence. Sue Blackwell may think that the Joe Quinn piece was factual, but it is obviously inspired by anti-semitism.

Ms Delich is digging a bigger and bigger hole for herself. I hopoe that the forces egging her on can take responsibility for the ammunition that they are supplying her employers. Trawl round the Net and you will find one C Kumar who has reproduced an email in which Ms Delich complained about the union solicitors, and in which she pursued her employers through private legal channels. Kumar (presumably) has headed this entry “Zionist UCU Mafia”. I wonder if she objects to this – and, if not, why not?

Martyr? no. Witch-hunt? No. Pity Greenstein can’t get his facts right. Not difficult to trawl the Net before you set up fake victims.

Thank you, modernity. Hard to be on the Left and to resist this implicit anti-semitism these days.

A pity UCU can’t focus on developing union activists. I thought that was what the list was for.

thanks, I must say that it is getting very murky out there.

I will do my best to make people recognize this racism for what it is, and certainly UCU should be doing more.

It was always the way. Disagree with someone, take exception to some of their methods, question their facts, and you were a rabid commie or fascist, paid by Moscow or the CIA. Now you’re a Zionist and your backers are Mossad.

Wow, Gideon Polya! I, too, come across him at times on Newsvine.

Your description of him is rather accurate, I’m sorry to say. We’ve had many scuffles…
