No, the fact in the left Foot Forward does not contradict the government’s statement about nuclear power. The blog merely points out that any nuclear programme needs a public subsidy. I am sure the British government know this already, but since they recognise that to keep the lights shining there is no choice other than to invest in nuclear power, they need to get the programme started as soon as possible.
Well, that’s probably why the minister said:
“But Ed Miliband has told Parliament:
“We are *****not***** going to provide public subsidy for the construction, operation and decommissioning of nuclear power stations.” >
