Those bigots, thickarses, neo-fascists and sport shirt wearing racists of the EDL are planning another provocative march, this time in Manchester, October 10, 2009, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Whilst council leaders are pleading to HMG to ban the march I think anti-fascists should start a concerted campaign to bring out 10s of 1,000s on the day.

The aim should be to galvanise the widest possible range of people at the grass roots, including but not limited to, trade unions (local branches and from neighbouring cities, not just a few officials and banners, but large numbers of rank and file trade unionists), community groups, tenants associations, locals, etc.

That would be a good start.

Aim to have some smart and competent stewards, less top down leaders, politicos and speeches, rather sheer weight of numbers to stop these neo-fascists from getting onto the streets.

Update 1:
Richard Bartholomew finds a deeper, historical side to the EDL !

Why is it that neo-fascists always seem to have such a delusion of grandeur ?

No one has told these cranks that St. George, if he even existed, was probably born in Turkey.

As for the lion, wouldn’t a shitehawk be better a more suitable emblem for the EDL? I doubt that the knuckles scrapers in the EDL actually know that the lion originates in Africa?
