Thanks And Good Bye.

For many complex reasons, which I won’t go into, this blog is closing.

It has been around years and I have learnt so much in the process.

I would like to thank my many fine readers, engaging posters and even the nauseating trolls.

I might in the future, time permitting, be found commenting on any one of these delightful blogs:

Engage
Greens Engage
Weggis
Adam Holland
Airforce Amazons
Jhate
Jack of Kent
Martin In The Margins
Max Dunbar
Obliged to Offend
Rosie Bell
The Poor Mouth

I would also recommend popping along to read The CST blog, Norm’s, Srebrenica Genocide Blog and Greater Surbiton.

Not forgetting Searchlight and the HOPE not hate blog.

Hasta pronto!

  8. I’ve long valued the clarity of this blog, Modernity, and I hope you’ll leave the old posts online, and also very much hope to still be reading your thoughts in comments round about. Many thanks for the link.

  9. Rosie, I already have acquired some placeholders for other political blogs (Carnival of anti-fascism) ages ago and it is conceivable may be a year down the line that I would start political blogging again, but not at the moment.

I had wanted to blog on the riots and particularly Starkey’s comments, but the half left drafts don’t look relevant for terribly coherent if they were drafted three weeks later, which was how it was working out.

I couldn’t turn out the material that I wanted in the way that I wanted, on time and other matters are preoccupying me.

So this blog served its purpose, but 6+ years is a long time.

    Kellie,

Thanks, I shall be leaving it up, along with the anti-racist material, stuff on Gilad Atzmon and other racists, etc.

I will be commenting on other blogs, but not as much as I did.

  13. Wow. This is a shock. Your blogging was always an inspiration. But I completely understand the burnout factor.

I hope we can meet up in the UK when I make it out there.

  20. Very kind of y’all*.

I might be on Twitter a bit, depends…..but the blog will remain as a piece of history…

In many ways the timing is unfortunate as I wanted to post a lot on the riots and Libya. Not forgetting Turkey’s military actions against the Kurds, etc.

  21. If the urge to post ever gets too much, a guest post at my (very quiet) blog would be welcome. I’m sure there are more popular blogs that would also be happy to give space.

  23. Kellie,

Very tempting, let me think about it.

    Carl,

I *do* like your blog, but I won’t comment with any warmth on a blog that allow racists to post as equals.

Please don’t take it personally but there is a deeper intellectual argument on allowing racists to feel they are part of the debate and I for one won’t tolerate them, that applies to thickarse skinheads, EDLers and Oxbridge ex-Trots.

  26. Dear Modernity, It sounds more that you are taking a break rather than leaving for good. Blogging can be a rather exhausting activity, and also sometimes we need a change, or life’s other demands get on the way. I think that bloggers sometimes allow this activity to take too much of their (our) energy, and finding the right measure is not so easy.
But I’m sure you’ll get back to blogging once you feel refreshed so I won’t say goodbye. Meanwhile I hope you can honour me with an occasional visit to that place where I very occasionally write my silly stuff.
    Best regards, sarah
