One time Respect activist and latterly a convert to Toryism, Johanna Kaschke has lost her vexatious libel actions against Dave Osler, John Gray and Alex Hilton.

Despite the obvious cost, stress and strain this is a good outcome not only for the individuals concerned, but for bloggers in general.

Jack of Kent points us to the judgement.

John Gray has his own thoughts on the matter.

  1. You would think Johanna might be a bit more embarassed about leaving the Labour Party, joining Respect, leaving Respect and joining the Tories in LESS THAN A YEAR. What’s that all about? Strange.

  2. Very strange, but not exceptional.

    You only need to look at what happened to the SWP’s onetime industrial organiser, Roger Rosewell, who became Lady Porter’s bagman.

    I am sure there’s many more “crossovers” that we don’t hear about, and they’re probably facilitated by at least two factors, the capacity of people involved in politics to rationalise things in *their* minds and the striking lack of introspection which is common amongst activists.

    I doubt she’ll be the last to join the Tories…

    Which reminds me of the old political adage, the Left looks for traitors whilst the Right look for converts….

    Except for right wing libertarians, I spent a good deal of my life as a libertarian and I can tell you from personal experience, right wing libertarians are always looking for hertics within their ranks, they are the Calvinists of politics.
